Fishing and boating are year-round activities at Big Canoe with three mountain lakes and a number of pristine streams hosting a variety of water borne activities.
Lake Petit • Big Canoe’s biggest lake was created behind the second largest earthen dam in the state of Georgia. Most fishing and boating activities take place here with its full-service marina and stocked rainbow trout. Swimming is permitted from watercraft on Lake Petit during the designated swim season in specifically designated areas.
Lake Disharoon • Adjacent to the Fitness Center, Lake Disharoon is home to the Swim Club and rockslide. It is the one lake in Big Canoe set aside for swimming with a sand beach and roped off area for tots. The swim club pool is adjacent to the lake. The rockslide is a longtime favorite for swimmers of all ages. Paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards are available here for guests registered at the Swim Club. There is no fishing in Lake Disharoon.
Lake Sconti • Surrounded by the golf course, Lake Sconti provides a spectacular backdrop for the Big Canoe Clubhouse. Fishing is allowed, but no swimming.
Lake Petit is regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout under the supervision of professional biologists and state fishery personnel. Bass, Crappie and Bream (in season) are also caught in Petit. Big Canoe Fishing Permits are required and may be obtained at the Lake Petit Marina on a daily, weekly or annual basis. Limits are posted and enforced. In Lake Petit, fishing is permitted from boats and designated areas.
Although it is not stocked, fishing is also allowed in Lake Sconti but not adjacent to the golf course fairways or between tees and green. Boats may not be left in the lake or on the shore overnight.
Rentals • Electric powered pontoon boat and jon boat rentals are available by the hour at the Lake Petit Marina. Only electric engines are permitted on Big Canoe lakes to avoid fuel and noise pollution. Fishing pole rentals are also available at the Marina along with bait and tackle sales, snacks and beverages including beer and wine.
Private Boats • Kayaks, canoes, rowboats and electric powered motorboats may be launched from the boat ramp at the north Marina on Quail Cove Drive.
Don’t Forget . . . Special amenity packages are available to make your outing a lasting memory. Choose from a selection of picnic packages customizable to any size group.
